Africatown 2024 Juneteenth
Africatown 2024 Juneteenth: Reparations Now - Summer Soul Event Canvas of Hope Foundation hosted an engaging activity in the Kid Zone area at the Africatown Juneteenth event, "Reparations Now - Summer Soul," held on June 19th at Jimi Hendrix Park. Participants, including youth and young adults, showcased their creativity through various hands-on projects, fostering self-expression and collaboration in a supportive environment. The event was a vibrant celebration of freedom and unity, featuring art, music, and community activities that honored the legacy of Juneteenth and advocated for reparations. It provided a platform for connection and celebration within the Africatown community, showcasing its rich culture and diversity. Thank you to all who participated in making this event a memorable and impactful experience.

Big Day of Play 2024
The Canvas of Hope Foundation was proud to participate in the Big Day of Play, an annual celebration hosted by Seattle Parks and Recreation. This vibrant event brought together families, neighbors, and community organizations for a day filled with fun, inclusivity, and engagement. With activities ranging from live music and sports to games and food trucks, the Big Day of Play fostered community spirit and promoted physical activity.

Pumpkin Painting Activity 2024
The Pumpkin Painting Activity 2024 was a delightful success, bringing together community members of all ages to unleash their creativity. Participants transformed plain pumpkins into vibrant works of art, using paints to bring their pumpkins to life! The event fostered a warm, festive atmosphere, encouraging laughter and connection among families and friends. Everyone left with their unique, hand-painted pumpkins, celebrating the spirit of the season and supporting our nonprofit's mission. Thank you to all who joined us in making this event a memorable one!

Dr. Joye Hardiman, a gifted storyteller, educator, Fulbright Scholar, and cultural activist.
Dr. Hardiman has dedicated her life to empowering communities through education and cultural preservation. She served as the Director of Evergreen State College – Tacoma, where her visionary leadership shaped countless lives and promoted academic excellence.
As a founding member of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations (ASCAC), Dr. Hardiman has played a pivotal role in uncovering and celebrating the rich history and contributions of African civilizations. Her work is a testament to the transformative power of education, storytelling, and cultural activism.
Through her unique ability to weave historical narratives with wisdom and actionable insight, Dr. Hardiman offers audiences a profound understanding of heritage and the importance of cultural identity. This event will leave attendees inspired, informed, and connected to the power of their own stories.

Canvas of Hope Foundation and William Grose Center Celebrate Community Through the CD Art Walk – January 3, 2025
On January 3, 2025, the Canvas of Hope Foundation partnered with the William Grose Center to kick off the year with the vibrant CD Art Walk, a celebration of creativity and community in Seattle’s Central District.
This free, all-ages event brought neighbors together to explore local art, connect with one another, and support the incredible talent that makes our neighborhood shine. Featuring artwork at multiple locations, the evening was filled with inspiration, connection, and joy.
